Natural Sweeteners vs Formaldehyde

Sweeteners are a joy to our taste buds, but add very little or no nutrition to our bodies, as most of us know. When you do have a sweet tooth, it's important to stick with natural sweeteners. I stay away from white sugar (bleached and refined) and never, ever use blue death (NutraSweet), yellow death (Splenda) and pink death (Sweet'N Low).

FIRST THE GOOD NEWS... HERE ARE SOME NATURAL SWEETENERS MADE BY GOOD OL' MOTHER EARTH. YUMMY!
1) Agave Nectar
2) Stevia
3) Sucanat
4) Honey
5) Turbinado Sugar
And there are, of course, others... List of Natural Sweeteners

SAY NO TO TOXIC SWEETENERS
1) NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful Artificial sweeteners made of ASPARTAME, available in packet form and also found in over 6,000 consumer beverages and foods sold worldwide. When aspartame metabolizes it creates FORMALEDHYDE - you know, the stuff that you smelled on the frog you were dissecting in biology or the stuff that gets put in people before they're buried to make sure they're really dead. Hmmm... well, that doesn't sound too bad...

Long-term nervous system damage, immune system damage and irreversible genetic damage are just a few pontential things to look forward to if you choose these sweeteners. A few cheery things that could result from ingestion of this poison: Headaches/Migraines, Dizziness, Seizures, Nausea, Numbness, Muscle Spasms, Weight Gain, Rashes, Depression, Fatigue, Irritability, Tachycardia, Insomnia, Vision Problems, Hearing Loss, Heart Palpitations, Breathing difficulties, Anxiety Attacks, Slurred Speech, Loss of Taste, Tinnitus, Vertigo, Memory loss, Joint Pain.

2) Splenda Artificial sweetener made of SUCRALOSE, which is essentially chlorinated sugar - a chlorocarbon. "Common chlorocarbons include carbon tetrachloride, trichlorethelene and methylene chloride, all deadly. Chlorine is nature's Doberman attack dog, a highly excitable, ferocious atomic element employed as a biocide in bleach, disinfectants, insecticide, WWI poison gas and hydrochloric acid." Excerpt from link.

3) Sweet'N Low Artificial sweetener that contains SACCHARIN, which as of 1997 was still on the government's list of suspected carcinogens. The USDA has been questioning the dangers of saccharin and studying it since 1907. In 1972 the USDA made an attempt to completely ban the substance. It's banned in Canada. Why take a chance on something likely to have the potential to create cancer in the body?
